Your false positive on ordinary text is the most useful result anyone has published on this. Function words repeating at predictable intervals look identical to a keyed signal from the outside, which is why the detection API not being callable matters more than the survivability debate everyone is having. I cited your test in a piece on what the mark actually proves. https://www.iqsource.ai/en/blog/anthropic-marks-what-claude-touches/

Would you class Pangram as a third-party AI detector? I've noticed Substack now using it, and my own tests gave mixed results: it sometimes labelled things I wrote myself as AI-generated, and vice versa.

So i wonder if AI detectors misclassify text but people treat their output as proof, how will that affect AI use? My hunch is that it would discourage adoption, which would be at odds with LLMs incentives, resulting in watermarking not being enabled except perhaps in legal or similar high-stakes settings like exams, etc. Curious what you think.
