Hey everyone,
December passed by in what feels like 5 minutes — but one thing did stick out like a sore thumb: my writing (or lack thereof.)
Aakash Gupta actually pointed out I haven’t been posting a lot lately, and he’s right. My initial knee-jerk reaction was to post a new blog I had been working on (Good PM vs Bad PM) but I thought the reason why I haven’t been posting perhaps warranted a bit more explanation.
I was busy publishing a book. THANK YOU to everyone for making The Product Momentum Gap #1 on Amazon!
In writing the book, I realized I wanted to spend a bit more time away from product.
Ironic, I know.
One of the biggest lessons in the book for me is that being a good leader means actively practicing empathy — and practicing empathy starts with ourselves.
I love all things product, but at one point my entire life revolved around it. I was eating, breathing, writing, thinking always constantly worrying about what to write next every single day. This in turn started affecting my life outside of work, having an impact on how I spent my free time and built personal relationships.
I never set out to be an “influencer.” All I ever wanted to do was write about my experiences and share them with others. And that’s what I will continue to do.
But I will also be taking more time to myself and setting the right boundaries between work and life. Turns out, I’m a whole other person outside of having likes on the internet.
So what’s next?
Expect your monthly inbox update with new blogs, that won’t change. But I will likely go a bit quieter on Xwitter and Linkedin, and post when I feel I have something worth sharing.
May your 2024 be filled with lots of love, joy, and adventure.
Until next time ✌️
PS. I am also rethinking as to whether or not I keep Substack, given their recent stance on allowing anti-simetic propaganda. Will keep you all in the loop as to what’s next.
Going to have to check out this book! Which new platforms have you been considering?
